Bariston Partners’ Managing Directors are David Barry, Martin Madden, and Christopher Needham.  This group represents a complementary balance of investment and corporate finance skills, industry knowledge, and institutional financial contacts.

David A. Barry is a co-founder of Bariston Holdings, Inc. and is a principal shareholder of Bariston Partners, LLC.  Mr. Barry serves as President of Bariston Partners, LLC and its affiliates.  He began his career at Hornblower and Weeks in 1971 as a corporate finance generalist.  In 1976, Mr. Barry joined Paine Webber, becoming the Managing Director of Paine Webber’s Boston office in 1980.  His Wall Street experience includes initial public offerings and public and private offerings of equity and debt, as well as merger and acquisition activities.  In 1982, Mr. Barry became a Principal and Managing Director of First Winthrop Corporation.  He was also a member of Winthrop’s Operating and Investment Committees.  It was during this time that he began to develop his focus on the cable television and communications industries.  Mr. Barry has served on the board of a number of client companies, including AgriManagement, Inc., Commonwealth Business Media, Inc., The Golf Channel, HCPro Holdings, Inc., Moose River Publishing, PageAmerica Group, Inc., Sentry Management Corp., and Utilicom Networks, Inc.  Mr. Barry holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Sc.B degree in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.

Martin C. Madden joined Bariston Holdings, Inc. in 1992.  He is a Managing Director and principal shareholder of Bariston Partners, LLC.  Mr. Madden joined New England Merchants National Bank in 1982.  Mr. Madden was a commercial lending officer of the Bank of New England NA, as well as an officer of Bank of New England Corporation with responsibilities for capital planning, investor relations and shareholder relations.  In 1986, Mr. Madden became a founding member of BNE Associates, Inc., the investment banking subsidiary of Bank of New England, and served as Vice President at BNE Associates, Inc., and its successor, BNY Associates, Inc.  Mr. Madden serves on the Board of Bariston Partners, LLC and he is also President of Bariston Securities, Inc., Bariston Partner’s NASD affiliate.  Mr. Madden is a director of HCPro Holdings, Inc. and previously served on the Board of Commonwealth Business Media, Inc.  He also serves as a member of the Corporation of Sea Education Association.  He was formerly a director of Commonwealth Business Media, Inc.  Mr. Madden holds an MBA from the University of New Hampshire and a BA in Philosophy from Tufts University.

Christopher E. Needham joined Bariston Partners in February 2002.  Mr. Needham is a Managing Director and principal shareholder of Bariston Partners, LLC.  He began his career as an operations manager with Kachemak Seafoods, a salmon processing company in Alaska.  In 1983, Mr. Needham joined State Street Bank in corporate banking, specializing in lending to middle market manufacturers, distributors, retailers and service companies.  From 1992 to 1999, he managed the communications industries lending group at State Street, growing commitments from $200 million to $650 million and expanding into ten new industry segments.  After Citizens Bank acquired State Street’s commercial banking business in 1999, Mr. Needham served as Division Executive of the Communications and Publishing Lending Division at Citizens until 2001.  After successfully integrating the business into Citizens’ organization, the Division’s commitments grew to $1.2 billion across more than twenty industry segments including cable television, cellular telephone, rural telephone, communications towers, security alarm monitoring, records management, newspapers, magazines, television, radio and outdoor advertising.  Mr. Needham serves on the Board of Directors of the Learning Center for Deaf Children and is a director of Health Watch Holdings, Inc. and Guardian Security Holdings, Inc.  He was formerly a director of Coastal Security Systems, Inc.  Mr. Needham holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Finance from the University of Maryland.
